Overview

The Safety Specialist II is responsible for promoting exceptional Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) teamwork with Henkels & McCoy operations teams at customer work sites and the Business Unit offices.

 

The Safety Specialist II will develop an understanding of the business, the context and mange implications related to HSE within the assigned area. Additionally, they will assist management in ensuring compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established HSE program. This individual must possess the ability to asses workplace hazards, determine the risks and provide solutions in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular safety training sessions and hold toolbox talks with crews at show ups or on job sites
  • Onboarding of new hires as requested.
  • Complete safety observations as required and share findings with Business Unit Manager and Safety manager to identify trends.
  • Help complete project safety preplans and hazard analysis with managers, supervisors, and foremen
  • Assist with the Company Drug Testing Program assuring Henkels & McCoy complies with DOT and RSPA requirements.
  • Verify completion of HSE recommendations of the safety team (committee), insurance carrier, or other HSE consultants
  • Assist with Area HSE Program including promoting the programs in the field to the employees
  • Interact with field operations in support of department's initiatives and various programs
  • Aid in ensuring that team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships are consistent with high performance requirements and congruent with the company's strategy
  • Build customer relations and attend customer conferences as required.
  • Travel 15-20% for Storm as required.

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree or 3+ years of relatable construction experience. Power utility construction experience a plus.
  • CUSP/CHST/CSP preferred.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, EPA, OSHA, Standards, 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, and other applicable standards
  • Skills in operation of Office and data-based computer software (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
